Avozillas, giant 4-pound fruits, are an avocado toast lover's dream come true

Love avocado toast? You might want to head down under.

According to the Australian Broadcasting Corp. and 9News, a giant avocado variety dubbed "avozilla" has hit specialty stores in Australia after Queensland's Groves family started growing the fruit, which originally was discovered in South Africa. The massive, tasty treats can weigh up to 4 pounds – five times larger than a regular avocado – and cost about $9 (AU$12) each.

"Everybody is pretty amazed to see these giant avocados, and they are quite a statement," said grower David Groves, who lauded the avozilla's buttery flavor.

One seller claimed that he made nine slices of avocado toast using half of a fruit, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Unfortunately, avozillas are still rare because the trees "cannot yield as much fruit as other species," 9News reported. So far, only the Groves family has grown avozillas commercially in Australia.

Starbucks offering 'buy one, get one free' deal for frappuccinos

Fans of Starbucks frappuccinos will be able to buy one and get a second one free during a promotion the company is offering on June 29.

The offer is valid beginning at 3 p.m. at participating Starbucks stores across the United States, the company said on its website. Customers must buy a grande or larger frappuccino or espresso drink to receive one of equal or lesser value for free.

Customers who have a registered Starbucks card are already eligible for the promotion. Customers who do not must sign up for a card here. After filling out the information, customers will receive a promotion code to take advantage of the buy one, get one free deal, Starbucks said on its website.

Dunkin’ introduces Donut Fries

Dunkin’ Donuts has upped the doughnut game with its latest invention -- Donut Fries.

If a doughnut isn’t portable enough, the company has formed them into sticks and put in a hand-held cardboard box.

The Donut Fries are made with a croissant-style dough then will be coated in cinnamon sugar, CNBC reported.

The company says they will also be served warm. 

They will start appearing at participating Dunkin’ Donut shops around the country on July 2. Five Donut Fries will set you back $2. 

World Chocolate Day: Krispy Kreme to ‘Glaze the Globe,’ to offer Chocolate Glaze Doughnuts July 7

Krispy Kreme will do its part to bring chocolate to the masses on World Chocolate Day.

The doughnut company will be offering its Chocolate Glaze Doughnuts at participating locations across the world on July 7 while supplies last. The celebration will start at a store in Auckland, New Zealand at midnight there, and will end 29 countries later at the shop in Kahului, Hawaii.

Cheez Balls are back, retro treat returns to shelves July 1

For those who are remembering a simpler time of hanging with friends, playing in the woods, and scarfing down handfulls of non-organic, horrible for you snacks, you can soon relive the food part of your childhood. Planters is bringing back the kid-favorite canister of Cheez Balls.

Retro canisters of Cheez Balls will be for sale once again starting July 1 for the price of $1.99, Fox News reported.  

And you may want to stock up on the snack that will stain your fingers in that unnatural orange color because Planters officials say the food will be available for a limited time. Cheez Balls will initally only be available at Amazon and, but will be rolled out to other companies and storefronts, People reported.

Cheez Balls will also be accompanied by another old-school favorite -- Cheez Curls. 

Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls both were discontinued in 2006, People reported.

Frosé at Taco Bell? Restaurant tries to lure millennials with frozen rosé wine

Say hello to the Berry Frosé Twisted Freeze, Taco Bell’s new frozen rosé wine now available at select cantina-style restaurants.

The California-based fast-food chain announced the millennial-friendly boozy drink as part of a limited test launch this summer.

Taco Bell’s $7.99 16-ounce frosé is made with a couple of ounces of Charles & Charles rosé wine blended with a combination of berry flavors for “a tasty, strawberry-forward, easy-to-sip summer treat” as “refreshing as it is fabulous,” the restaurant told Thrillist.

As of Wednesday, the new Instagram-worthy drink is only available at the Chicago Loop and Newport Beach Cantina locations. But there’s a chance the company will roll out the new item to more restaurants in the coming months.

Last year, Taco Bell announced an expansion of 300-350 new cantina-style locations between 2017 and 2022. The restaurants are known for selling margaritas, sangria, beer and other alcohol-infused concoctions in addition to Taco Bell’s popular late-night food options.

A total of 2,000 new locations are slated for Taco Bell by 2022, according to the company website.

Blue Bell's Southern Blackberry Cobbler ice cream flavor hits stores for limited time

Just as temperatures are starting to soar, Blue Bell is bringing back another limited-edition ice cream flavor to help you cool down.

According to KDFW, the Brenham, Texas-based creamery announced the return of its Southern Blackberry Cobbler flavor Monday.

"Ring the dessert bell!" the company tweeted Monday morning. "Southern Blackberry Cobbler is a creamy ice cream with a luscious blackberry flavor combined with flaky pie crust pieces and a blackberry sauce swirl. In stores beginning today!"

Ice cream lovers can can get the flavor by the pint or half-gallon, the Houston Chronicle reported. A half-cup serving has 180 calories, 9 grams of fat and 17 grams of sugar, according to the Blue Bell website.

'The Chew' canceled: ABC kills foodie talk show amid Mario Batali allegations

ABC’s appetite for afternoon talk show “The Chew” is over after seven years.

Instead, a third hour of “Good Morning America” will air at 1 p.m. starting this fall.

“The Chew,” currently hosted by Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Michael Symon, replaced “All My Children” in 2011. Former co-host chef Mario Batali was fired late last year after several women alleged he sexually harassed them at his New York restaurants. Batali is now under criminal investigation by the New York Police Department.

The chat/food show’s ratings have fallen sharply this season to its lowest levels since its debut.

New episodes of “The Chew” will continue to air through the summer.

Gold hot wings offered at NYC eatery

You have your mild, hot, extra hot and even Armageddon-melt-your-face-off varieties of hot wings; but how about the bar staple dusted in gold?

Two New York City restaurants are offering the decadent dinner. 

They’re called Foodgod 24 Karat wings and are being served at two locations of The Ainsworth: one in Chelsea and one in the East Village, the New York Daily News reported

The wings are a collaboration between the restaurant and Jonathan Cheban. 

You may know his name from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the Daily News reported. He calls himself Foodgod now.

Foodgod’s recipe starts with the wings being soaked in coconut butter, gold butter, chipotle and honey batter for 24 hours. They’re served dusted with real gold flakes with a side of gourmet dipping blue cheese.

Ten wings cost $30 and 20 cost $60. For big spenders, there’s the option of 50 wings with a bottle of Jay-Z’s Champagne Armand de Brignac for $1,000, WNBC reported.
