She rocketed to stardom on Britain’s Got Talent singing “I Dreamed A Dream” back in 2009, and now Susan Boyle has revealed why her fame was initially very hard for her to understand and comprehend.
The 52-year-old revealed to The Observer over the weekend that she’s been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a condition on the autism spectrum that mainly affects social interaction and communication skills.
She said she’s always known she was “different” even from a young age when other school kids called her “simple Susan.” The diagnosis came about a year ago and she said helps explain why she also suffered from anxiety around strangers and struggled with eye contact while growing up.
SuBo noted “I have communicative difficulties, which leads to a lot of frustration. If people were a bit more patient it would help.”
