While embattled TV chef Paula Deen may be losing endorsement deals left and right following the revelation that she used racial slurs, her fans still can’t get enough of her. And they’re using their wallets to help show their support.
Her newest cookbook, the yet-to-be-published Paula Deen’s New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up, is the number one best seller on Amazon.com via pre-orders. It’s also number seven on Barnes and Noble’s presale list. And the book doesn’t even come out until October 15th.
And it’s not just folks clamoring for new recipes from the Southern chef. Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible: The New Classic Guide to Delicious Dishes with More Than 300 Recipes, published in 2011, has rocketed to number seven on Amazon’s sales chart since her racism scandal broke.
Her fans also want to spend time with her. The country cooker has added a second 2014 Paula Deen cruise due to increased demand of late. Deen and her family will sail and cook with fans aboard Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas.
Even business at her Georgia restaurants have seen a spike in patrons showing support for Deen. RumorFix spoke to a manager at Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House in Savannah, Georga and he told us they’ve “had a lot of support” from fans in the community said that their business is greatly appreciated.
So while Target, Walmart, the Food Network and others are parting ways with Deen, her loyal fans are standing by her side.
